Default Goldmoney

I read in this Blog about this payment system similar to e-gold:

One company that offers services similar to E-gold—albeit with a strict "know your customer" policy—is Goldmoney.com. I have a Goldmoney account, and recommend it highly if only as a way to purchase an electronic form of gold that is 100% backed by gold bullion that can't be debased by a central bank.

Have you used this payment system?

Looks nice and safe.
Im guessing the reason it hasn't been used like e-gold is the similarities to a bank account and similar account opening procedures.

Yep I use them. GoldMoney is in some ways superior to e-gold, in some ways inferior. It is by far superior from a legal point of view. They have in place a strict KYC policy where you have to send valid identification in order to have your account validated. Sadly though their systems aren't as advanced as e-gold's. Also their security isn't as advanced as e-gold's. However, they will probably make improvements to their systems in the future. Overall I'd say GoldMoney is a great way to own gold. They have a "gold savings plan" program where you can setup a automatic monthly debit of your bank account to purchase a predefined weight of gold. Also their fees are less than e-bullion's.

I did a tiny review of GoldMoney over here:

Perhaps if e-gold situation is solved they will request a valid identification too

I would hope so. I like e-gold and would like to see it flourish.
