Re: e-gold Hits The Wall! Government Seizes Major Agents’ Accounts
I am a London Gold Exchange user - this was posted on their website

1mdc e-gold accounts Frozen! 27/4/2007
It appears e-gold has frozen several accounts belonging to 1mdc. We do not know if this was forced, but we are hearing rumours that the US Government has issued a court order to close or freeze certain accounts.
We do not know the reasons yet. Under the circumstances and considering all aspects of our business (especially safety and security of your money and gold), we have decided to suspend trading with 1mdc.
Please keep checking the Latest News on this web site for updates.
Sales Team
Seems that e-gold itself is ok (indeed have checked my accounts and can log in successfully) - but it is the processors that have been closed by USA officials.....

Yes, and spending from one e-gold account to another one works without problems.

I think e-gold should relocate offshore. This is ridiculous. Big brother is pissing everyone off. I am just infuriated right now!

I think that going offshore is not the solution, it's better onshore and legally registered, and not accepting funds from USA people.
But, wasn't e-gold registered in Nevis?

Re: e-gold Hits The Wall! Government Seizes Major Agents’ Accounts
E-gold is registered in Nevis, but it is run in the USA and the officers reside in the USA.
The thing that gets me is that gold is not considered a currency by the US. Exchangers buy and sell gold on behalf of their clients. It should be no different than going to a local jewelry store and buying or selling a gold necklace. If the US orders cease and desist orders for buying and selling gold, they may as well shut down Ebay and any other online site where you can buy and sell anything made of gold. What's the difference?
JMO,
Sharon

That's true sharon,
perhaps they have some proofs against 1mdc or e-gold based in terrorism, scammers, and other illegal activities.
But I don't understand why exchangers...

Re: e-gold Hits The Wall! Government Seizes Major Agents’ Accounts
I think it is because they have been unsuccessful at shutting down e-gold, so they are going after the feeding tubes. Don't let the words they throw around, like "terrorists" and "scammers," fool you. It is because the US is not getting a slice of the pie. It is all about money. Anything used as a currency, other than the US dollar, is a threat to the US economy in the eyes of Uncle Sam.
JMO,
Sharon

Re: e-gold Hits The Wall! Government Seizes Major Agents’ Accounts
I have been reading about this on some of the other forums and people are already foaming at the mouth with miss information.
Some even claiming that e-Gold deleted accounts. e-Gold does not delete accounts, they simply block them. IceGold and the other exchangers will be able to plead their case, for crying out load. Why is it that people always have the need to speak about that which they haven't a clue about?

E-gold gives people privacy, the US doesn't like privacy! And terrorism is a useful cover story.
