Phyxer: e-Bullion and e-gold software
Hello there,
If you use e-gold and e-Bullion regularly, you may be interested in software I have been developing for two years now, called Phyxer. It's aimed at making the day-to-day management of e-currency accounts more convenient. Basically, it enables you to access one or more e-gold and e-Bullion accounts at once within a consistent interface: you can check the balance, retrieve the transaction history, make payments... so what are the advantages of Phyxer over the usual web interface ?
- A unified, fast and dedicated interface.
- No more login, only one password to enter at launch for all accounts.
- It can sit in the system tray and notify you of new received payments.
- Powerful history filtering and searching options.
- Transactions can be marked as "cleared" for accountancy purpose.
- Ability to process mass payments (spend to multiple accounts at once).
Phyxer is of course secured all the way: data stored on the hard disk is strongly encrypted, and the connection to e-currency websites is handled the same way your browser does. Beyond this, the trust issue is important with this kind of program (how can you be sure Phyxer isn't loaded with a greedy backdoor?). Though there is no perfect solution on this matter, I did what I thought was best to mitigate it: Phyxer is distributed as free software ( meaning open source), thus its source code and internal operating can be reviewed by anyone with required programming skills, ensuring there is actually no spyware in it.
Additionnally, Phyxer is cross-platform and runs on Windows and Linux. It might also run on MacOS X with little tweaking, but I don't have a Mac to try it.
A last thing: automation access have to be enabled within the e-currency accounts for Phyxer to work. This setting is harmless if configured the right way (with a static IP address and a good password; a strong password should always be used for e-currencies anyway).
If you're interested and want to learn more or try Phyxer, I invite you to check the following links:
... and of course ask any question you may have
Here is a screenshot of the interface:

Re: Phyxer: e-Bullion and e-gold software
hey there, good to see you finally here! I haven't really looked at the codes that you sent me, but I think this program is pretty useful if you're administering payments (IE, a program admin or somesort)

Congrats!
A good idea and it seems a good program. I will test it asap. Thanks.

Re: Phyxer: e-Bullion and e-gold software
Personally I reluctant to use a 3rd party software directly accessing my money accounts (e-gold, bank etc). The reason is that it has happened before that hackers have modified the source and uploaded it to the server (or exploited it via spyware/virus).
Does your program have CVS import function, so you can use it completely offline?
Is it possible to save filters so you can track, say f.ex. fees or a certain e-gold number without having to recreate the filter after restarting the software?

I try to make the website as secure as possible. I use professionnal hosting (1and1) with strong passwords all the way. I also check md5 hash of the files regularly to ensure they haven't been modified. An extra security measure on this point could be to sign the files with a PGP key to let the users verify for themselves the genuineness of the downloaded file (but, well, it requires the user to have some knowledge in PGP...). I will make the signatures available when I have time.
EDIT: Done. You can now check the integrity of downloaded files.
As for spywares/viruses, Phyxer of course doesn't free you from the necessity to have a strong setup with an anti-virus, an anti-spyware and a firewall... though if you ask me, I'd say the best solution is to use Linux

No, you can't import a CSV file though there is an export function. I haven't made it possible since it seemed to me that using Phyxer this way would greatly reduce its usefulness and nobody would want it. But actually your the second one to ask for it... so I guess I should consider it seriously Well, it will be in the next version.
EDIT: Done. Version 0.4.2 provides this feature.

Yes, it's possible. You can do so by selecting the filter you want and saving it by clicking the button next to the drop-down list of filters (top right). The new filter will then be shown in the list and can be recalled later. You can even select multiple e-gold accounts and group them within a single filter. This way, you can for example track the balance of transactions with someone using two different accounts for paying and being paid.
By the way, thanks for your feedback

Re: Phyxer: e-Bullion and e-gold software
HI Phyxer Admin,
I think you've got a great idea for program administrators, especially those that run multiple sites.
I've been thinking about this post and agree that it belongs in the Tech Zone, since it is software. However, it could belong in the Currency Corner under E-Gold and E-Bullion and possibly in the Advertising folder in Buying, Selling or Trading. People looking in those sections may be interested, too.
I suggest writing a short description that redirects them to this thread for more information and comments. I wouldn't put the entire description in the other areas, because then you'll have comments all over the place.
JMO,
Sharon

Sure, thanks for the welcome and the suggestion I also wondered where to post it and ended here, but since you offer me to cross-post, I'm going to do it right away.

Re: Phyxer: e-Bullion and e-gold software
I've just released a new version with the feature you suggested, whizzer (CSV import), enabling you to use Phyxer completely offline. Additionnally, the integrity of downloaded files can now be checked on this page: http://www.phyxer.org/integrity.html (SHA1 checksums and PGP signatures).
