Vista can't crash? Uhm... oh ok I get it, this is an early April Fool's joke right?

BTW, Vista is not a clone of OSX. They ripped off some graphical features from Mac OSX since OSX looks better, but the code of the OS is just Windows... and you only need to go to youtube or talk to people running Vista to know that it crashes all the time, blue screens of death included

Then again, one guy who's been running it said he's had zero problems with Vista. So at this point, it's luck of the draw. It works for some, it sucks for others. As for me, I'm seriously thinking of buying a Mac for my next computer (since it can run Windows anyway, with Parallels or Boot Camp)... they seem to be much more reliable than Windows.

After many years (Internet years) when my PC needs a change, I'm going to switch to MAC. My daughter loves her's and less problems.

Eventually everyone will be forced to switch to Vista. This is what MS does. They will stop supporting XP just like they have every one of their older OSes.

I am looking into Linux, but it will have to be something easy to deal with. So I myself am looking into Freespire. I am waiting for Version 2 to come out of Beta testing. It is now in alpha testing.

Good point

OSX is freebsd based (unix) and it's very stable, windows is windows.

If you install windows with bootcamp you have 3d acceleration like other windows (and you can play games if you want). With parallels you are emulating windows or any other o.s. and you don't have 3d acceleration. And also the mac graphic card is not shared like almost all pc,s , so it's faster.

My company is currently testing/piloting the new Vista OS and IMO there is nothing really new apart from fancy GUI changes and some security features.

Depending on what you run, 1GB of RAM is sufficient but 2GB is better.

However, the major problem we face right now is software compatibility and hardware drivers. Some current software that runs on XP will work fine but for others, you will need to wait for the Vista version.

As such, I would stick with Windows XP on my current home PC for now until new versions of software and drivers are out.

Oh yea, speaking of which.

I have a Philips Webcam and a HP Laserjet (1010) which can't work with Vista yet as the drivers are not out.

Not to mention my old Canon Scanner 656U, I think this can be permanently paired with my laptop now.
