Oh my no, futures trading is much much less volatile than the FX market there are only a few times a month when the futures market moves, some crossover and affect the FX market as well, some not so much.. remember often if you are trading based on news or whatever that is moving US markets it does not mean it will have the same or any effect on a currency pair that not closely related to the USD.
Plus even if you learned only the major pairs in forex that is much more work than learning a single futures contract.. I only trade the Eminis I don't get involved commodities etc... those are nutty markets.. maybe that's what you thinking about.. yes I would agree if you were referring to the commodities they are as bad if not worse volatility wise as the FX markets...
I don't do anything with HYIPs, at least not the online scam type.. you know the earn multiple % points a day... I earn in the area of 20% a month on my personal account but that is actively trading it between 15 to 20 days a month and I think it becomes harder to do so with a larger account.. just the getting of fills etc... but remember that number is an average I've had my share of 0% months as well as 75% months.. its all part of the game.

Yes, I was speaking of commodities. Do you think the 'average' person can learn to trade Futures (contracts) as opposed to Forex? What kind of time is involved before one sees more profitable than 'not' months? How much money is needed to start?
Thanks for your reply.

Ouch I have a feeling that this was the intent of this thread... so please if a MOD feels it needs to be moved by all means do so.
Ok, yes the average person can learn to trade the futures market. It's not hard to do as there really is none of the normal stuff that you associate with trading, earnings reports, all that sort of stuff, you are trading basically an index of the overall market...
I think learning futures is much easier than FX but of course that is simply my opinion.. each person is different.
I wish I could answer the other questions but it is impossible to know how long any given person would take to be in profit each month on a regular basis. I know I was profitable in my second month and have never had a losing month since that time, but that does not mean I have not had months that were ugly and barely profitable..
As to starting capital you can open a futures account with as little as 2500 is possible but to be quite honest the more you have the more you stand to earn.... and lose...
Hope that helps,
J

Re: Greetings from Thailand/Canada
There is no point in moving this thread. This is your introduction to the forum, and so far nothing spectacular has been posted that should be in another thread.

Dan

I agree, Dan.
Traderj, please feel free to start a thread in another folder discussing futures, or commodities, or anything else you could lend your expertise to. You've definitely piqued my interest. I made a stab at crude oil futures years ago and lost a few hundie.

I see there is a forex board, perhaps in the OTHER or Alternate board we could have the admin set up a Trading board that we could discuss, all trading, futures, stocks, options.. etc.. there is a wealth of good free info out there and some very hefty returns being made in those markets.. by regular folks every month.

You can start any threads you like in the forex board. Meanwhile I will notify Jude and request that he adds a new board, for options, commodities, futures, stocks.
Regards,
Dan

Re: Greetings from Thailand/Canada
Created. I'll need some help here. What kind of sub forums should we have for that forum?

Re: Greetings from Thailand/Canada
Stocks, real estate, commodities?
Input please, Traderj?
Oh, ok. I see it now. Gosh, I wouldn't know what sort of sub forums to include. I'll have to defer to TJ.
