Crime will (or will not) occur regardless of whether or not a group of individuals wager on its likelihood. Yours is an interesting point of view but what is it that's necessarily wrong with benefiting from crime? There are numerous lawful and ethical activities that do so every day. Locksmiths, home security systems, self defense instruction, just to name a few.

Isn't free choice a wonderful thing? No apologies necessary, Judy. You're expressing your opinions and, by golly, you're entitled to them.

I am not defending Andy, but I can't forget that he paid me for one year in XLO, to profit.

I lost money in TFT, not much. But when I joined, especially as I joined so late in the game, I knew I was taking a big risk.

My take, and I'm not saying that I'm right, but I tend to believe Andy on this, is that he took a huge punt with an investment and it backfired, leaving him minus funds to pay TFT members, and he would have to know that once TFT fell, XLO would be extremely vulnerable.

That's it. He lost our money. Is that scamming? We knew going in that we
were giving our money to someone who was playing the hyip game to get us our returns.

So how can we call this person a scammer? A huge risk-taker, yes. A bad investor, maybe. But a scammer...I'm not so sure.

I've been scammed. I know the difference. Most scammers don't hang around for a whole year paying members daily on an autosurf program. Maybe the pressure of doing that did get to Andy and affected his judgement in the end.

And if I owned XLO when TFT went into its tail spin and a Bob Krimm came along and offered to take it over and save my members funds by continuing to pay them, I would have jumped at it to. Can Andy help it that Bob Krimm did not follow through? Remember, Bob Krimm ended up apologizing and admitting that the XLO database was in tact when he bought it.

In most western courts of law, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty. The exact opposite is justifiably so in HYIPLand. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. That said, I agree the "scammer" label is overused and often misapplied. Andrewunknown does a fine job examining the difference between the premeditated fraud (True Scam) and the failure due to incompetence/negligence (D'oh!).

Maybe we should create a new folder that addresses the reality of a "gray area", that middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition. The area that lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. Perhaps it would be called, <creepy music plays in background> "The RedFlag Zone".

Sounds good, but let's not get overly metaphysical about it all. Okay, okay, maybe we can, just for fun. My first article will be about "The Metaethics of HYI". Seriously, though, it is an intriguing subject, if with few practical implications for the purpose of making money or anything but intellectual entertainment (if there is such a thing).

I'm more interested in the people and their behaviour than the money - (i'm not in any programs anymore, other than some residual funds from last year) - so moneymaking takes a back seat to intellectual entertainment on this one.

We can setup a short course called "A Degree in HYIP" - and those who take the course only pass when they are cynical about every opportunity. Other requirements for successful candidates include a compulsion to grill admins over how they are generating funds, and to be able to recite by heart the 10 greatest tell-tail signs of a problem program.

Or how about a multi-author blog dedicated to the philosophy, psychology, and ethics of the HYI arena...you're right, it is interesting.

[OFFTOPIC]
Since it was discussed earlier, maybe I could get wager script input from those interested - see here.
[/OFFTOPIC]

Back on topic, I was actually being serious about the co-operative hyip blog idea focusing on philosophy, psychology and ethics, if anyone is interested - it's something a little different!

I think that you can not be totally sure about an investment program even with a good DD, real trading, registered and so on.

The most important is the person/people behind that program. Do they seem honest and sincere, and have they those types of details to confirm it?.
