Thanks, Jude, it's a nice table. Though the average cost per click is hard to estimate. It's much easier that you start and see whats your CTR/CPM. By knowing the CPM you just divide your expected traffic to 1000 and will get it.

It's hard to actually estimate it, but you and I know for sure. The more traffic, the better!

A good friend of mine has made thousands per month with adsense for years.. his strategy was to have loads of tightly focussed mini niche sites that each got 50-100 targeted search engine clicks per day.. and try and make the adsense ads the only outlinks available to click.

He reckons that too much unfocussd traffic will just result in your site only being allocated lower paying ads on average, which will hurt your income more than anything else.. as you want access to the top 20% of advertisers who bid the big bucks per click.

It sounds like typical MFA sites that DP are describing. Nevertheless its nice that its working for your friend.

I bet he's a pro now at generating traffic.

yes... and his income suffered a lot because of that in recent years.

the point was more about getting access to the top paying advertisers on a low traffic site can earn you dollars per click, so people who cant ever imagine having bulk traffic can still make some decent money adsense income if they focus their content rather than chase traffic numbers..

Glad to hear that works for your friend, Optional. Althought it's not a model that I would like to follow, I know it works. But 50 - 100 clicks per day on a small site? He must have at least 500 pageviews per day on each unless he has absurdly high CTR (so it requires a lot of SEO work).

He's been at it way before anyone had even heard the term made for adsence or google even cared... and don't assume his sites are some cookie cutter stuff either. He does stuff like photograph a kitchen renovation he did, then buy a domain name like kitchenplans.com and then might describe in some detail his research and what he did. He gets it listed in DMOZ and a few other directories that can provide instant spider traffic.. he often puts a simple script on the domain to take link trade submissions and list them on a links page... then he leaves it... with no adsense or any other ads until the site is properly in dexed in google... probably 6 months in most cases.

Then he places his adsense ads and as I said they are virtually the only links on the pages. He is paricularly good at SEOing his sites... but that isnt as hard or as much work as people seem to imagine.. its mostly just common sense.

Anyway... on a site like that kitchen plans one Im using in the example I think he was getting about 200 clicks clicks per day on searches looking for "kitchen plans" and had about a 20-25% CTR and was earning around $50 per day for a quite a long period.

Sounds incredible I guess.. but he has repeated the same simple plan over and over hundreds of times. he works hard.

It works simply because he is patient and makes sure he never sends random traffic, so he gets fed the highest paying advertisers, not because of any tricky stuff. he can make money on a domain with just 20 clicks per day this way.

So why was that a model you wouldn't like to follow? ;-)
