Lightbulb Trader Introduction

Okay, its still a new forum, but im surprised to see that this section of it hasnt gotten any attention sofar... after all its one of the most popular money making opportunities nowadays.

You do know its the biggest market in the world right? Now give it some attention

So a few question:
  • Do you trade? If No, why not?
  • What platform do you trade on? Why?
  • What kind of trading?
  • How succesful have you been sofar?
  • etc etc

Im listening

Cool Re: Rather quiet overhere..

I'd be starting off, and kudos to Steve for starting something.

Do you trade? If No, why not?

Yep, paper trading for now. It's been 3 months since I started.

What platform do you trade on? Why?

I love MT4 and I realise I'd be looking for a broker that uses that platform. It's easy to use and pretty robust as well.

What kind of trading?

I trade mainly on the pound (GBP/ USD, aka the cable). But I'll look at the other majors when Dan ask me to.

I've learnt some fundamental from Infinity Share's tianx, technical trading from Dan, Life-Holdings as well as abit of both from PeterB, Club-FX. It's been really fun talking all these guys who're really helpful and good in what they do

How succesful have you been sofar?

Lately I've been better. I guess demo trading works if you're treating your account like a live one. It puts your mentality and discipline in the test as well on whether you're ready to go live.

Etc etc?

I'll come back later, going for a jog now

ps. This looks like an interview, doesn't it?

I can answer only 1 question. LOL

Do you trade? If No, why not?
No, I do not trade. I tried a few platforms. All had regular trading advice as well as pertinent financial news. Although I love numbers, it just didn't hold my interest long enough to learn why they were making the calls. So, I never really learned what I was doing. I'm a firm believer that learning why something is done is as important, if not more important, than the how and the what.

The same holds true for picking programs. You can learn how to pick a program from a whole series of advice and a list of what to look for. However, if you don't learn why or why not this criteria or that criteria, your whole list of how is useless. For example, a noob recently told me he uses if an address and/or phone number is available on the site as one of the factors in deciding, but he didn't understand the what to look for and the why to look for it. Therefore, his criteria was useless.

Learning the why of doing something allows you to roll with abnormalities.

JMO,
Sharon

Do you trade? If No, why not?

Yes, live trading for several years now.

What platform do you trade on? Why?

I chose brokers using MT4. I got used with this platform after using Oanda for more then a year. Brokers: IBFX; Northfinance because they accept EG.

What kind of trading?

Technical trading.

I have had a really hard time understanding the market until I properly understood price movements around support and resistance levels. After that everything clicked in a good way

How successful have you been so far?
-75 to +300 pips weekly.

Etc etc?
I'm looking forward to my first million, what else?

Do you trade? If No, why not?

Yes, I am trading in a micro account with a few amount of money and of course testing new strategies in a demo account.

What platform do you trade on? Why?

mt4 in NorthFinance because they accept e-gold, and in marketiva because I like to chat there.

What kind of trading?

Technical trading when there are not important news. Sometimes also fundamental trading.

How successful have you been so far?

I consider myself a newbie but I am doing from 20 to 100 pips daily.

Etc etc?

I am learning many hours daily and I wish that in some more time I can be a good trader.

That's very good!

How many pips do you lose in a bad day? You must have them occasionally.

Hello Dan,
I use to cut my losses as soon as possible but I have a negative position in gbp/jpy that I forgot to place my sl when I did scalping with it, but the margin is very good (I don't risk more than 8%) and as you know this pair is very volatile and reverse a lot.

And when I discount my lost pips to these gained pips that's what I am getting, I hope it could last.

But it's because in my real work I am alone with my laptop and bored. And when I am bored with the long term strategies I use to scalp with this pair. Yes: very dangerous but very profitable
