Default Any experiences with www.Collective2.com?

This is a genuine question, not some elaborate Q&A spam - but has anyone had any experience with the trading systems with this website?

Collective2 - The Trading System Authority

It might also be of interest to those already succesful traders who wish to offer signals based on their systems.

I have personally been trading live for a few months and making some steady but small profits with a fairly modest account. I've got more cash but I'm not really comfortable putting it in my account just yet in case it all goes tits up. I might aswell try and put the cash somewhere where it can grow whilst I get more experience.

Your thoughts?

Hi, birdt.

Welcome to NN forum. What took you so long to come aboard?

C2 looks very interesting and you posted the thread in the perfect spot.

Ok, I'll have a closer look and try to form a reasonably coherent opinion. I'm still very much in the forex n00bie phase but I'm learning every day.

Collective2 (C2) is primarily a system testing and subscription service. It comes highly recommended by some of the regulars at Forex Factory. You can enter in your own system and if anyone subscribes to it, you can make some good money on the side!

C2 is currently monitoring over 3,600 trading systems for stocks, futures, options, as well as forex. Subscription fees are per 30 day period starting the day you subscribe so you don't have to worry about starting your subscription at the end of the month. Fees differ from one system to the other although I'm not quite sure how they're determined. Btw, Team Aphid Bird seems to be one of the more popular systems costing $250/month.

Explore the site. There is a ton of great info and resources for traders and developers.

Thanks for the lead to this site, birdt. I've got it bookmarked!

I looked at this a year or so ago and found that most of the reliable looking systems charged too much to give anyone with less than 10k starting balance a chance at winning.

ie: Aphid Bird has produced about 80% pofit annually... or around 6% per month... that means all profit on the first $4000 in your account is needed just to pay the monthly signal cost of $250

I don't like the way C2 allows anyone to provide signals and make up whatever price they want to charge for them... surely some sort of minimum criteria for listing and fixed pricing structure for unproven systems would be implemented there if it was actually about providing a good service for BUYERS rather than extracting the most money from us.. which I believe is their attitude.

Another issue that put me off was that you might find a great looking signal provider on C2, only to do some external research or visit their website and find that the performance figures there are worse than on C2.. never better.. always worse. (that may be an exageration.. but i saw the same pattern over and over and my suspicous mind was wondering why)

Lastly and far from leastly... if you want the signals traded automatically.. you have to use a third party product called tradebullet, which only works when your PC is online and, in 2005, was so clunky that many people were complaining about losses from tradebullet not closing orders when it should have or made other errors. (that may be fixed by now.. but having to rely on your PC and ISP being online 24/7 is still a bad solution imho)

All that said... I only had a small amount of capital to play with and the expense of the services is probably what put me off it most. If I had 10k+ to play with at the time I may well have found it more appealing.

Thanks for the responses guys, particuarly Optional for weighing in with his experiences.

The method by which the signals are delivered and executed was a bit above my level of technical understanding and this was my main area of concern. The charts may have beautiful steep gradients signifying the bulging virtual bank balances, but if the actual performances have not been quite so smooth then that is a fairly large spanner in the works.

As for the price of the signals, there is unsurprisingly a positive correlation between price and performance, with 'Big Cat' clocking in at $500 pm for an annual average of 415% profit according to the stats at C2. This would most certainly price anyone out with less than $10k. However, 'Sniper 4x' still produces 210% profit (again according to C2) at a much lower cost of $100 pm. If these figures were/are to be believed then I would definitely be tempted - even at $500 pm, if Big Cat really made that amount of money then you'd still be laughing to the bank. The question is though - do these figures hold in reality? If not then it would suggest that Optional's 'suspicious mind' pays dividends in this murky world.

Even so, I will certainly keep an eye on the website and see if anything appeals.

Thanks again.

PS. I have been around, lurking in the shadows. I learn more when I'm not typing!

Dont be put off by the observation about being suspicous... I really couldnt think of a reason why it was like that... and I do think the records kept on C2 would accurately reflect the signals sent via their system.

Does anyone have a clue how individual subscription costs are determined? Positive forex is at, supposedly, 309.1% annual and they charge only $45 pm.

Track record is one of the longest at 63 weeks. Nice steady gains according to their chart. No huge drawdowns.

Collective2: positive forex

Nice one Opie... that 'best systems' list has a few that are reasonably priced.

I noticed this link on the second page you posted too... BullDogFX - AutoTrading Made Easy

Seems there are options to auto-trade without that trade bullet softtware too now.

maybe ignore what I said about 2005... things have probably changed a lot by sounds.

That looks really interesting, Opti. Looks like UK traders are out of luck if they want to auto trade, though.
